Wicked Kitchen

My friend and officemate, Arvin, and I were hungry one day and, tired of eating the same old junk from the office cafeteria, we decided to venture out into Mother Ignacia to try this new place called Wicked Kitchen. Our lives would never be the same again.

Rice Bowls and Desserts Menu

Well, I’m sort of kidding :) But really, the stuff we had was so yummy I insisted on taking Brian, with whom I have decided to form a little club called the Thursday Club and Uncle Peter, who I have not seen in a LONG time, to lunch there last Thursday. Here’s a rundown of what we got that day:

Shrimp Poppers - Nice golden fried-to-crisp batter with fresh shrimp inside. If you love shrimps, you’ll definitely adore this dish. I would say that when you juice the lemon on top of it, it becomes even more wonderful. As is, or with the Mayo dressing, it’s a good appetizer.

Firestarters – Man, did this dish deliver a zing! Melted cheese, peppers and chicken inside a crispy fried wrapper, this is easily my favorite dish of the bunch, because it’s so cheesy and spicy and all around yummy. Uncle Peter thought it was OK too, but thought that it might have been better if the wrapper was soft taco-style instead of crispy lumpia, and Brian felt the dip was not needed. Best eaten upon serving though, since this is not a dish that really stands out at room temperature.

IMG_0729Sisig Rice – The sisig rice (sizzling diced pig’s snout, ears and cheeks – an original Kapampangan dish) was Uncle Peter’s favorite, and personally, i thought it was nicely done as well. Rice topped with sisig unlike any I’ve ever tasted (and we all know that when you live in the Philippines, you get to taste some 1,000 variations of the same sisig dish), and topped with a sunny-side up egg. :D

Mongolian Rice – Quite honestly, I wasn’t that impressed with the Mongolian Rice. The flavor of the dish was so-so, and I’ve tasted better Mongolian Rice before. Collectively I think this was our least favorite dish of the day.

Pesto – Didn’t get to eat much of the pesto, but what I was able to eat tasted okay, if not good. I must admit, I’m not much for pesto dishes, but I was able to get through this dish okay so it must mean something, right? :)

IMG_0744Gluttony (to share) – This is one ginormous plate of cookie. You have to wait for a bit for this dish to be served so my suggestion is to time the order about 15 minutes before you’re ready for dessert, so that when all the dishes are cleared, your Gluttony is ready to eat.

This is chocolate chip cookie dough baked until it’s crisp outside but still gooey and all melty on the inside. Topped with vanilla ice cream, whipped cream and chocolate syrup, this instantly became my favorite dish. We all loved how it’s gooey and crispy at the same time.

Warning: Do not attempt to eat alone, you won’t succeed because it’s a whole lot of dessert. This dessert also comes in single, which is about half the size of the to share plate.

Some of my other recommendations (not pictured here) are their Chicken Teriyaki, Bagoong Rice, Chicken Fillet and the Chicken Mushrooms Cream pasta :)

Dear absolutpurple and the rest of the Clumtards,

I would like to thank you for your awesome entry on Wicked Kitchen. I actually remember seeing you guys take photos of the food and I was scared out of my wits coz I was sure you would be blogging about it.

We put up our Facebook page just now and would like to ask permission if we could link your review.

Your approval would mean a lot.

Hope to see you guys in Wicked soon.

We have come up with a Wicked Weekdays promo and you might want to check it out. You get a Gluttomini (a baby gluttony with icecream) if you order any of the special items listed for that day.

Thank you very much and would love to hear from you.
